Paediatric Dentistry encompasses the promotion and maintenance of child dental health.
Children are not little adults. They are unique in their stages of development, oral disease, behaviour and oral health needs – they come with their own set of specific demands. In order to provide them with the care that they deserve, the whole dental team must understand their needs and be involved with their management.

Why it is so important to take my child only to a paediatric dentist?

It is really important that from the first time you take your child to the dentist, make sure that it’s specialized in paediatric dentistry. We insist in this point because a general dentist can never ever have the patience and know how to talk and treat your child. This is important cause your child must associate go to dentist as somewhere where he or she will have fun and of course get ride of any kind of fear feelings. This will be determined with the role of the paediatric dentist that will be very tactful and psychologist from the first moment. And of course will know how to act exactly at anytime with any decay tooth or any other problems.

When should my children's dental care begin?

Children's dental care should begin within just a few days after birth. Right after each feeding, wipe your baby's gums and inside of the cheeks, roof of the mouth and tongue with a clean wet gauze to remove plaque. As soon as teeth begin erupting through the gums, continue proper dental care by brushing them with a soft bristled brush. Do not use toothpaste. Regularly check your baby's teeth for any changes.

At what age should I take my child to see a paediatric dentist?

By the time children are three years old, they usually have a full set of 20 primary teeth and you should take your child to the paediatric every year after

Why are the baby teeth so important?

The primary teeth help children to chew ,speak clearly, serve as natural space maintainers (holding the space open until the permanent teeth are ready to take their place) and also provide structure to help shape their faces.
If a baby tooth becomes broken or decayed and left untreated, that can affect your child's erupting permanent teeth, cause them pain and even contribute to other health problem. If baby teeth are lost too early, the other teeth can drift out of their position and invade the empty space.
This might cause permanent teeth to come in crooked or unable to erupt into the gum, which leads to malocclusion.

How can I help my child before starting to go to the paediatric dentist to not have cavities?

Before three years old when your chills has all the milk teeth and start going to the dentist, you should never let your child fall asleep at naptime or bedtime with a bottle of anything other than water! Milk, fruit juice, or sweetened liquids contain sugars and can cause cavities and make dental care more difficult. Also you have to start brushing his teeth from the first temporary teeth three times a day.

Do dental sealant work?

Yes, we usually advise to put sealants on the surface of the molars with to any deep grooves on the surface, cause any time the child eats the food concentrates on that area, and after a time can create cavities.
